Thanks to the entire CHC staff for welcoming me this semester and allowing me to add another shade of gold to your team! The CHC team is comprised of various dominant colors that seem to mesh so well together. The use of True Colors is just one of the many ways the CHC team shows this respect and camaraderie. One of the things I’ve valued the most from my CHC internship experience is the opportunity to work with a group that is dedicated to building team rapport and making the extra effort to respect each other’s unique talents and work ethic. Because the True Colors methodology takes important concepts from the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and distills them into a user-friendly, practical tool, it actually has a long shelf life with the CHC team. I’ve previously worked for organizations that employed assessments like True Colors but did not use those results in a constructive way nor have team discussions regarding how our team could better our group dynamic. My supervisor and I learned we are both strong “golds”, which helped us relate to one another based on our similar work styles. I was encouraged to discuss my color results ( gold and blue) with my internship supervisor. Rather than writing the test off as a “one-and-done,” fun activity, supervisors and coworkers use the True Colors materials to inform how they can best relate, motivate, and show appreciation to an individual based on their dominant colors. What most surprised and impressed me about this process was learning how the CHC uses this information. While some may think this sort of topic would be met with vague nods and a quick discussion turnover-that is not the case at the CHC! During my colors reveal, my colleagues were excited to discuss my results, joke about their color predictions, and bond over shared colors. “ Orange” characteristics: spontaneous, generous, optimistic the performers.Įvery new staff member at the CHC takes this “test” during their first week of work and results are shared at the next staff meeting.“ Gold” characteristics: organized, prepared, traditional the rule-followers.“ Green” characteristics: analytical, investigative, calm the problem solvers. ![]()
